Mess or Masterpiece?

Do you ever open your 'fridge to look for something delicious, even though you already know there's nothing tasty inside?

I'm guilty of that. As if opening the refrigerator enough times will cause a cheesecake or roast chicken to magically appear.

"Wow Honey, when I looked in the fridge 10 minutes ago there was only a pile of wilted veggies, a hunk of leftover roast, and a cup of spaghetti sauce in there. But now it's like Baskin-Robbins. Whoo hoo!"

As my family can tell you, I'm not a great cook. I have one redeeming kitchen skill: I'm the Queen of Dinner Scraps. I can turn a leftover mess into a masterpiece.

So today after looking in my fridge for the 3rd (OK-48th) time, I pulled out the limp veggies, beef chunk, and cup of Prego. I put all those sorry scraps in a pot, added water and pasta, and boiled it. Those leftovers transformed from a mess to a masterpiece.

At dinner I offered my husband the "Hearty Italian Beef Soup." He devoured it like a lion attacking a wildebeest.

Victory! A new culinary masterpiece is created!

Are you dealing with a mess? Divorce? Problems at work? Bullying at school? Loneliness?

Do YOU feel like a mess?

God wants to help.

He loves us so much that He gave his Son so we could be new creations. That's what those "John 3:16" signs at ballgames are about.

If you're fed up with mess, ask Jesus into your life. He's the one who can turn even the worst situations around.

It's simple. The bible says "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9 NIV

Your prayer can be this simple:
Jesus, please forgive my sins, and be my savior.

You go from mess to masterpiece in the blink of an eye.
God transforms you, and even gives you a great new name. He calls you His.
Victory! A new eternal masterpiece is created-you!

Calgon, take me away!

Years ago a TV commercial showed a frantic woman scrambling to simultaneously deal with a ringing phone, screaming children, barking dog, and a delivery person at her door.

Finally in desperation she throws her hands up and cries, "Calgon, take me away!" Immediately she's luxuriating in her bathroom tub, discreetly covered in bubbles from the neck down.

Evidently behind the scenes in Happy Commercial Land the dog stops barking to answer the phone, the delivery person baby-sits the children, and Betty Crocker and the Keebler Elves have dinner under control.

How about you? Do you feel overwhelmed? Could you use a Calgon moment? I'm pretty sure the Fed-Ex man and Marie Callender won't show up to help any time soon, but there's some good news.

There's a God who love you. He wants to help you.
Here's what He says:

"And call for help when you’re in trouble—
I’ll help you, and you’ll honor me.” Psalm 50:15 The Message

So the next time life buries you in a multi-tasking avalanche, don't crumble under it. Call to God for help. He's available 24/7.

Betty Crocker and the Keebler Elves are already busy in my kitchen.
