Last month my brave new plan, including a Snazzy Exercise Program and my Inspired Novel Rewrites, fell by the wayside when my computer and I both caught viruses.
The computer cycled in and out of the computer emergency room. I cycled between the sofa and my bed with wads of Kleenex jammed into both nostrils like a Sci-Fi movie creature. Only scarier.
I looked like this...but worse |
When I could function again a barrage of backlogged tasks waited. Family and church commitments, work, study, household maintenance....
The obligations dragged me down like a creature from the Black Lagoon.
Until I spotted my husband's Christmas gift.
He'd created an author scrapbook. Inside he'd placed things like acceptance letters, my first newspaper interview and speaking engagements. But what touched me even more than this incredible gift of love, he'd given me a large pack of refills.
Those refills meant he believed I'd continue.
Simply seeing those refills renewed my determination to press on.
God offers us refills every day.
How about a refill of...
- Hope: I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
- Joy: (Jesus speaking) I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! John 15:11
- Peace: I am leaving you with a gift--peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid. John 14:27
- Strength: He (God) gives strength to the weary and strengthens the powerless. Isaiah 40:29
How about the greatest love refill ever offered:
For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Grab God's word, the bible. He'll share the refill for every situation.
Even healing for the Kleenex-Nosed Sci-Fi creature.
